Urban Ashram's Project Y, Y Not?!

Yoga makes us happy, and also a little sweaty!
JING SAYS...
Erika was invited to a yoga party at Urban Ashram, and she asked if I wanted to come along. I've always been a fan of yoga. I especially like it now because, well, there aren't any jerky, jumping up and down movements involved, which is perfect for a woman my age.

What I didn't know, and what Erika failed to tell me, is that it's a yoga party for, get this, young adults!!! Okay, by no stretch of imagination am I a young adult: four grown kids, one grand-Sophie! I am definitely an old, old adult!

ERIKA SAYS...
A year ago, mom and I practiced Bikram Yoga for a month so when I got the invite, I thought it would be cool to tag her along. We made an effort to wake up early for the party as we're not really morning people. As mom was walking up to the car, I noticed that she didn't have a gym bag with her.

E: You do know we'll be doing yoga, right?
J: Yes, but I figured I would just watch you and take photos.
E: Uhhh... Go grab your yoga stuff, I'll wait. Sayang! Haha!

JING SAYS...
As fate would have it, I had actually met Maricar Pastrana Holopainen, who runs Urban Ashram, a couple of times before. Seeing her smiling face, I quickly told her that I didn't know that the party was for young adults! Mwahaha Nonsense, she said, yoga is for every age. The party is actually for Project Y: Endless Summer, Urban Ashram's initiative to encourage the younger generation to get going in yoga by offering them enticing price points and schedules.

ERIKA SAYS....
I've been more health conscious and interested in fitness since last year so yoga is not new to me. I enjoyed our session at Urban Ashram Manila but I think I need polishing on my poses. I love that their yoga room is big and brightly lit by the sun. I wonder what it's like during the night (when I'd most probably do my classes). I heard that the lights in the rooms change colors!

JING SAYS....
Several times, this old adult just found herself laughing. How could something that looked so easy be so hard?! Fortunately, Lasse wasn't too strict about keeping straight-faced and silent during sessions. And by the end of the class, I had worked up quite a sweat. My hair was wet, my leggings were damp, and my face was filled with beads of perspiration. As for Erika and the rest of the young adults, I really hate to say this but they looked as fresh as daisies!! No sweat. No tears. I have never felt so old in my life!

  1. I want to practice yoga at Urban Ashram Manila because I happen to love their facilities. They have clean showers, spacious lockers and they also provide free mats. You basically have everything you need, and you just have to attend. Not to mention, yoga is a challenging but relaxing way to be fit.

  9. The place looks amazing! I have always wanted to do yoga. Unfortunately, we don't have yoga centers here in Bulacan. I'm also wondering if the activity requires a great deal of flexibility? Since I started having kids, I haven't danced or exercised as much.

    1. Hi Pinay Mommy Diary! They have Flexibility Not Required sessions, so you don't need a great deal of flexibility to do the poses. :)
