Everything is Awesome!

Lego makes us happy!

JING SAYS...
It's been two days since we saw the movie, but I still can't get its theme song out of my head. It was Sophie's birthday, and as part of the celebrations, we saw The Lego Movie in 3D!

I grew up with Lego, and was absolutely fascinated by it. I remember being all bothered if I can't get the "walls" of my Lego house in one color; it was probably the young OC in me trying to break out in rebellion. When I started having kids, I also bought them Lego. We spent many hours trying to make cars, and spaceships, and all those other cool stuff that you can make out of those little bricks. Fun!

Anyway, the movie, it was awesome! More than the cool animation, I found the humor an absolute delight with references to The Matrix and Star Wars thrown in. Plus, it had all of my favorite Justice League heroes meeting up in Cloud Cuckoo Land! How cool is that!

ERIKA SAYS...
Since Sophia's birthday party was moved, I decided to watch a movie with her on her actual birthday. Seeing that the only kid-friendly movie at the cinema was The Lego Movie, it was a no-brainer choice. I asked mom to come watch with us. Since it was my daughter's birthday, it would be my treat (for a change)! Two of my brothers ended up coming too!

For the first 30 minutes of the movie, I was working on my iPad. I know, I am such a killjoy! I thought that it's Sophie who should be enjoying the movie because it's for kids! If she's happy, then I'm happy. However, I couldn't help but notice that mom was laughing out loud in most parts. It seemed like she was enjoying the movie more than Sophie. So I put away my iPad away and focused on the movie, and got surprised to see myself laughing too! Kids will definitely enjoy the visuals but the humor is for grown-ups.

Definitely a must-watch movie that both kids and adults can enjoy!

  8. Already watched this and we're planning to get the bluray copy when it goes out ! I have to agree, little kids won't be able to relate that much when it comes to humor, but when did kids have the same humor as ours? :-)
