Birthdays make us happy, giddy, and excited!
ERIKA SAYS...
Sophia, my daughter, had been counting down the days left till her birthday. Every morning, she would wake me up and say, "Mommy! Only X sleeps until my birthday!" I would just nod my head and go back to sleep. What can I say, I'm not exactly a morning person.
Back when I was a kid, I remember wanting to celebrate my birthday in school with my classmates. I want to give her the same experience so I planned a party for her. I knew it would be easy since they were only 12 in class!
I thought of getting a party package but it would be too expensive for only 12 kids. So, I thought, why not go DIY instead? Lola Inday, her dad's mom, is a baker so she offered to make the cake and cupcakes for the kiddos. As for the food, drinks, and giveaways, thank God for Happy Meal! It's an all-in-one package! Balloons, check. Party hats, check. I then asked the teacher if she could host at least one game. Once it was all set, we just had birthday invitations distributed a few days before the actual event.
JING SAYS...
Ah, birthday parties! I've probably done a hundred of those! So, okay, that's an exaggeration. But, well, let's just say that I've done a lot. Still, I was excited to come to this one, probably because Sophie had a countdown going on a few days before her party.
The great thing about being a lula is that you get to be the guest of honor. While mommy was worrying over the food and the party hats, which she left at home (teehee), there I was, sitting pretty in a corner, talking to Sophie's classmates. They were adorable kids, and they were as excited as I was to get a bite out of those chocolate mallows covered in pink sprinkles, some of which Sophie did herself!
Because this is Sophie, everything was in pink: the cakes, the marshmallows, the banner, and the sprinkles. I was actually surprised that she chose a princess white outfit for her birthday party, courtesy of her great grandmama and papa. I think the little fashionista in her didn't want to be matchy-matchy with her cute little cupcakes!
P.S. One of her classmates gave her a bag of Barbie-themed chocolate bars, which Sophie loved! When I discovered that the wrapping actually had Barbie stickers inside, she made me eat all the chocolates. It was a dirty job, but, lula just had to do it! Mwahahaha
Happy birthday Sophia, from your Kuya, Kuya Manzano :-D

ReplyDeleteI love parties: planning and attending. Good for your that the school allows parties to be celebrated at school. Mine doesn't. It's actually cheaper done at school and all the classmates are sure to be there.
ReplyDeleteBelated happy birthday to your princess.

DeleteThanks for the greeting Nicquee! At what school does your kid go to? I wonder why parties aren't allowed. Even if you just bring cake and spaghetti during recess?
